Pool Types We Install
Not every yard calls for the same pool. South Jersey’s coastal terrain, often marked by sandy or variable soil conditions, affects both placement decisions and which construction method makes the most sense for a given site. We build all in-ground pool types, so our recommendation is based on your project, not our inventory.
Fiberglass Pools
Fiberglass pools arrive factory-molded with a gel coat surface that resists algae and holds up well against soil movement and temperature swings common in coastal South Jersey. As an authorized Viking pools dealer, we offer Viking’s complete fiberglass lineup: a range of shapes, sizes, and configurations, with the backing of a local, hands-on team. Installation is typically faster than other construction types, and the nonporous surface can reduce long-term chemical demand compared to concrete, which matters when you’re managing a pool through a full Shore-area season.
Gunite Pools
Gunite is a highly durable and very customizable type of concrete pool that is built on-site. Gunite pools can take virtually any shape, depth, or configuration. Want a tanning ledge, a freeform design, integrated water features, or a finish using tile and specialty aggregates? Gunite makes it possible. Build timelines are longer, and ongoing maintenance is more involved than fiberglass, but the customization options are unmatched. We treat every concrete pool as a completely original project. On local properties where no two lots are identical, that approach fits.
Fiberglass vs. Gunite: How to Choose
One of the most common questions we hear is: which pool type is right for me? Because we build both, along with vinyl liner, we don’t have a reason to steer you toward one over the other. Fiberglass wins on speed of installation, lower chemical costs over time, and resilience in the variable coastal soil conditions found throughout Cape May County. Gunite wins on customization. If you want a shape or configuration that doesn’t exist in any manufacturer’s catalog, gunite is the path.

A well-designed in-ground pool can be a meaningful addition to a home near the Jersey Shore resort market, though outcomes vary by property and market conditions. Pool Placement
Where you put the pool matters as much as which pool you choose. Every project starts with an on-site consultation and a full property walkthrough led by a dedicated project manager who stays with you from initial design through finishing touches. Sandy or variable coastal soil affects both the excavation approach and the appropriate pool type for a given site. Professional site evaluation identifies these conditions before breaking ground, not after.
Municipal setback requirements vary across New Jersey townships, and a local installer familiar with local zoning can guide placement decisions early in the process. Sun exposure and wind also shape the planning conversation: positioning the pool for solid daily sun can support water temperature and discourage algae growth, while planning for wind exposure, through fencing, landscaping, or structural windbreaks, can reduce evaporation and debris. When to Start Your Pool Project
