Standard white plaster generally lasts 7 to 10 years, while aggregate and pebble finishes can last 10 to 20 years, depending on water chemistry and how well the pool's been maintained. Plaster Finish Options for Your Pool
You don't need to know every material detail before calling us, but understanding the three main finish categories helps set expectations for your consultation:
- White Plaster (Marcite): A blend of Portland cement and marble dust that produces the classic bright-blue water look. It's the most affordable option, though it's also the most susceptible to staining and chemical etching. Typical lifespan runs roughly 7 to 10 years.
- Quartz Aggregate: Cement blended with quartz crystals for improved durability and color retention. Quartz finishes handle chemical imbalance better than standard plaster and generally last 10 or more years.
- Pebble Aggregate: Cement combined with natural pebbles for the most durable finish available. The texture creates deeper, more dramatic water colors, and the surface can last 15 or more years. The higher upfront cost often translates to better long-term value.
